Meeting called to order 7:30 pm
1. Opening Prayer: Remembrance Day
- Gospel: John 14:27-31
- In Flanders Fields
2. Approval of Minutes:
- Minutes of Thursday, October 14, 2010 were adopted as circulated.
- Moved by Frank Mauro and seconded by Rob Ciemniak.
3. Correspondence:
- A thank you note was received from Susan Jay and Fran Hyrinkiw for use of the hall for Rob & Jackie Belsham’s anniversary party
- A note was received from Ana Pires regarding her displeasure with the lengthy summer mass schedule.
4. Projects(s)/Standing Committees
Drain Pipe:
- John Medeiros said that the pipe connection was on the outside not the inside and that there was leakage. He recommended that it should be corrected to prevent damage over winter from ice. An adapter needs to be used to join the pipe to prevent water damage.
- Laurel Alves moved that John Medeiros purchase the connection and repair the joint, seconded by Amabile Dal Monte.
Finance:
- Father Richard Beaudette and Lynn Monteith will be coming to Kitimat to follow up on the Diocesan Appeal and offer suggestions for reaching our goal. Hopefully they will also be able to give some guidance to the Finance Committee. *There is still no chairperson and Susana is too busy to take on more duties. There was no financial report at this time.
Snow Blower:
- A new 13.5 hp Craftsman snow blower was purchased to clean sidewalks and emergency entrances around the parish buildings.
Youth Room:
- All work is completed. The room needs the floors and windows cleaned. St. Anthony’s has boxes that need to be removed and Paul Cornthwaite will be contacted to have them removed.
Hall Committee:
- Amablie said that the backroom is too crowded. Need to get rid of some of the carts. John Medeiros will move the largest one to the storage shed.
- Tim Brousseau will fix the tile around the sink.
- Leo DeSousa needs to be contacted to pick up his barbeque.
- Bantam Parents will be holding a dance in the hall on November 13. The hall needs to be tidied and the bathrooms cleaned.
- Frank Mauro will check for supplies in the kitchen and order if needed.
- The usual waxing of the hall floor hasn’t been done this year and will be done after Christmas.
St. Anthony’s School:
- Bus Parking: The bus is being parked in the same place as last year as it is in the way of snow removal when parked at the parish office area.
- Storage Shed Area: Area looks clean and tidy. The children from the school have been staying out of the area. John House was waiting for a meeting to speak to school council on the matter.
- Picnic Tables: The school needs to remove the picnic tables from the front doors before the snow starts, as they will be in the way of snow clearing.
- Exterior Stuccoing: No one has been found to do the job yet. Do to the cold weather this will have to wait until spring.
Snow Clearing:
- The contract for snow clearing has been awarded to JHW.
5. Business Arising from Minutes
Good Grief for the Holidays:
- The Bereavement Committee is offer a workshop on Saturday, December 4 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm in the church hall. Sir. Beverly Bobola, OP will be leading the workshop. It is open to anyone in Kitimat.
Family Become Who You Are:
- A DVD prepared by the diocese and viewed by parish council. Discussion at a later date.
Next Meeting: December 9th @ 7:30 pm
