The precise nature of this celebration, I leave to your particular desire and creativity.”
- Parish Council members needed additional time to come up with some ideas. Father Kenneth had no preferences.
- To be kept on the agenda for the next meeting.
Catholic Health Association of BC
- Letter inviting Christ the King Parish to renew its membership fees for another year. Cost is $160.
- Parish council members agreed to renew our membership with CHABC.
4. Project(s)/Standing Committees
Maintenance Committee
- Susana invited Markus Feldhoff to share with parish council a list of maintenance projects that remain uncompleted by the parish.
- Renovation to youth room.
- St. Anthony’s School kitchen upgrade.
- Installation of new playground borders: Recommendation is to hire someone and or retry with volunteers. The first attempt with volunteers was unsuccessful. The expectation is to complete this project this summer.
- Installation of Church downspouts
- Contract awarded to ZanRon. Fabrication complete. Installation to take place in the Spring.
- There is a problem on the left side of the hall (wall facing men’s washroom). Water seepage is causing white powder to form on the floor tiles. This needs to be addressed when the downspouts are installed.
- Paint those areas of the Church ceiling that have water stains, at the same time fix any light bulbs that are out.
- Level and seed gravel area across from the lower parking lot.
- Extend sidewalk from Wakita subdivision to church: Estimated cost is $4,000 to dig and prepare for cement walkway.
- Review handicapped washrooms: A suggestion would be to combine both washrooms upstairs in the church foyer to make 1 unisex handicapped washroom
- Rectory/Office Project
- Replacement of Hall floor
- Replacement of Hall ceiling
- Electrical panels updated in the church, shed and rectory
- Review proposal to hire part-time maintenance person
- Compile a monthly maintenance schedule for parish facilities

| Total income | $43,122 |

Youth Room Update
- Project is nearing the completion stage: Tasks remaining: lighting, wall finishing, floor, new exterior door, completion of the exterior of building (stucco or vinyl siding), completion of kitchenette.
- Discussion surrounding a vinyl/linoleum floor or low pile carpeting. Parish council agreed to finance the installation of new carpeting.
5. Business Arising from Minutes/from the Floor
Building Project
Youth Minister/Coordinator
- Parish Council has asked that the position of Youth Minister/Coordinator try to be filled. An “expression of interest” would be promoted in the parish bulletin.
- Diocesan Youth Conference: Susana approached parish council to cover the cost of DYC fees to any youth who would like to go to but because of financial reasons cannot. Parish council has approved covering 3 registration fees. RET fund is also available to offer financial assistance.
World Day of the Sick – February 11
- Those who participated really enjoyed it. There was concern about the length of the celebration. A suggestion would be to invite Fr. Terry from Terrace to assist us next year, if possible.
Brotherhood of the Holy Spirit
- One of families hosting the symbols of the Holy Spirit has requested because of health reasons, if they could use the parish hall to host their week. Parish council has permitted the family to use the hall because of their health issues.
Rotary Club
- Rotary Club is requesting permission to use the kitchen facilities to prepare food for their Rotary function in March. Council approved granting permission to the Rotary Club after much deliberation. To over the cost of utilities there will be a $100 fee. The Rotary Club is asked to contact Frank Mauro.
Lenten Parish Mission
- John Connelly is unavailable to offer a parish mission for Lent 2010. He suggests that we book a time during Advent.
Parish Planning, 3-5 years
- Susana proposed that parish council work on a 3-5 year plan for the parish in light of the parish’s aging community, proposed population drop (to a possible 5,000) and the Eurocan closure.
Mass Times
- Is it possible to move Saturday evening mass to 5:30 pm? 7:30 pm was set as the Mass time because of shift workers who work 12 hour shifts. The later mass time still allows those employees to attend Mass.
Next Meeting: Thursday, March 11 at 7:30 pm in Church Hall
