AN EASTER MESSAGE FROM FATHER KENNETH
Today we celebrate the core belief of our faith that Jesus Christ rose from the dead following his crucifixion. Those of us who share in his triumph over death, the Lord grants courage to build up a new humanity. This divine courage reveals goodness and condemns evil and its tragic consequences.
May the risen Christ enlighten and guide all those who are building peace everyday in this parish community. May He bless all who are building this parish at the cost of their sacrifices. May He look with favour on those who have shown love to others. May He strengthen the faith of those who are disappointed. May His mercy be upon the sick and those who are suffering. May His support be upon those who have no job. May He console all who are grieving. May He give hope to the hopeless. May He offer forgiveness to the sinners.
The resurrection of Christ has restored our life. The Son of God who broke the seals of the tomb has become the source of new life in us.
Fr. Kenneth Uwaoma
Jesus Christ is Risen Today
Alleluia! Alleluia!
The parish staff would like to take this opportunity to wish all parishioners
a very blessed and beautiful Easter. May we never cease to share Christ’s undying light and love with all humanity.
Rejoice all people
for Christ has died
but he is Risen and
He will come Again!

FEAST OF DIVINE MERCY: From the diary of a young Polish nun, a special devotion began spreading throughout the world in the 1930s. The message is nothing new, but is a reminder of what the Church has always taught through scripture and tradition: that God is merciful and forgiving and that we, too, must show mercy and forgiveness. But in the Divine Mercy devotion, the message takes on a powerful new focus, calling people to a deeper understanding that God’s love is unlimited and available to everyone — especially the greatest sinners. The message and devotion to Jesus as The Divine Mercy is based on the writings of Saint Faustina Kowalska, an uneducated Polish nun who, in obedience to her spiritual director, wrote a diary of about 600 pages recording the revelations she received about God’s mercy. Even before her death in 1938, the devotion to The Divine Mercy had begun to spread. The message of mercy is that God loves us — all of us —no matter how great our sins. He wants us to recognize that His mercy is greater than our sins, so that we will call upon Him with trust, receive His mercy, and let it flow through us to others. Thus, all will come to share His joy.
DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY...SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER
During the course of Jesus' revelations to Saint Faustina on the Divine Mercy He asked on numerous occasions that a feast day be dedicated to the Divine Mercy and that this feast be celebrated on the Sunday after Easter. The liturgical texts of that day, the 2nd Sunday of Easter, concern the institution of the Sacrament of Penance, the Tribunal of the Divine Mercy, and are thus already suited to the request of Our Lord. This Feast, which had already been granted to the nation of Poland and been celebrated within Vatican City, was granted to the Universal Church by Pope John Paul II on the occasion of the canonization of Sr. Faustina on 30 April 2000. In a decree dated 23 May 2000, the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments stated that "throughout the world the Second Sunday of Easter will receive the name Divine Mercy Sunday, a perennial invitation to the Christian world to face, with confidence in divine benevolence, the difficulties and trials that mankind will experience in the years to come."
Pope Benedict announced on Friday, January 14th that the Venerable Pope John Paul will be beatified on May 1st, Divine Mercy Sunday this year. Benedict XVI explained that the date that has been chosen for the beatification "is very significant." He said that "It will be the Second Sunday of Easter," which John Paul II entitled "Divine Mercy Sunday" and "on the eve of which his earthly life ended."
From Pope John Paul II’s death bed came his last written words that he had prepared to be read on Divine Mercy Sunday, the day after his passing. They were read, as follows, directly on Divine Mercy Sunday: “As a gift to humanity, which sometimes seems bewildered and overwhelmed by the power of evil, selfishness, and fear, the Risen Lord offers His love that pardons, reconciles, and reopens hearts to love. It is love that converts hearts and gives peace. How much the world needs to understand and accept Divine Mercy! Lord, who reveal the Father’s love by Your Death and Resurrection, we believe in You and confidently repeat to You… Jesus, I trust in You, have mercy upon us and upon the whole world. Amen.”
Parishioners are invited to gather together on Sunday, May 1 at 7 pm. During our time together, we will pray the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy as well gather for song.
CANADIAN CONFERENCE OF CATHOLIC BISHOPS ~ EASTER MESSAGE, 2011
For many of us, our yearly Lenten journey has been shaped by its beginning and end. We started with the temptations of Jesus and then the vision of his transfiguration. We end by entering with him into Jerusalem, where we share with him in his suffering, death and resurrection. But what has this really meant for us, and what happened to us on the way?
Sometimes we forget what the journey is really about, and fail to see what should be noticed along the route. In case you may have missed it, the three intervening Sundays of Lent told us a great deal about the Lenten journey and our entry into the Easter celebration. The readings of the Third, Fourth and Fifth Sundays of Lent invited the catechumens, as candidates for Baptism, to think over and even “test” their motives about why they want to be initiated into the community of faith. The same readings also invited the rest of the Christian community to examine its own faith journey. Three major points came forward in this year’s readings: What do we most yearn and thirst for in life (the Gospel reading of the woman at the well)? How can we see what life is really about – not only to have sight, but insight and vision (the healing of the blind man at the pool of Siloe)? How can we embrace life and stand with courage, strength and inspiration among those truly alive (the Gospel reading of the resurrection of Lazarus)?
Often we simply plod along the road of faith – moving as if in some shadowy, superficial existence, not really aware. We frequently stumble on, half-hearted, hazy eyed, hesitatingly. Not fully alive, and not even aware of the deepest yearnings in our hearts, or in the hearts of our brothers and sisters.
Perhaps this is why we are easily distracted along the way. There is so much talk and chatter in contemporary life. Our daily lives are filled up with the glaring sounds of radio and television, the fleeting words of text messages and websites, and the frequently disturbing and cruel remarks from blogs and social media.
The Paschal Mystery is the road on which we are called to discover our deepest yearnings and most authentic needs. It gives us the light that enables us to see Light. It opens the way to life and to the truth about life. It is Life itself.
The 50 days of Easter are an invitation for us to rediscover the depths of our own lives. Through the Resurrection of Christ, we see the creative and transforming strength of God’s love for us and our world. This journey in faith is the journey to eternal life. To borrow from the words of Saint Paul, God our Father who raised Christ from the dead will give life to our mortal bodies also through his Spirit that is dwelling in us (Romans, 8.11).
Christ is risen! Yes, Christ is risen indeed!

A Communications Person:
We are in need of a member who is willing to take on communications for the League. This job would involve decorating the bulletin board in the foyer with upcoming events of the League, posting the monthly meetings and agendas in the Parish bulletin and writing a bi –yearly Newsletter to inform all members of the activities of Christ the King Council. Perhaps you are a person who is very social and can share your outgoing personality with your League sisters! Please contact Sylvia at 632-4341.
Looking forward to seeing you all at the meeting! God Bless you and a Joyous Easter from the executive.
