MARRIAGE ANNIVERSARY MASS: The marriage anniversary mass for those couples married in the month of November will be celebrated on Sunday, November 27 at 11:15 am. Couples will be invited forward to receive God’s blessing.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD SHOES BOXES: The deadline is quickly approaching. Please have your shoeboxes back to the church foyer for no later than Sunday, November 28. Please remember to include label and the shipping costs.
COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS CAROLING: Christ the King Parish will host this year’s Community Christmas Caroling on Sunday, 4 December at 6:30 pm in the church. A reception will follow in the church hall. Goodies would be appreciated and can be dropped off in the church hall prior to the start of the evening. A freewill offering for the Kitimat Food Bank will be taken during the evening. Please come and bring a friend along.
KITIMAT LADIES FELLOWSHIP BREAKFAST: This will be held on Saturday, December 3 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at the Hirsch Creek Golf Club. Tickets are $11 each. For more information please contact Liz at 250-632-7527 or Brenda at 250-632-5771.
PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL: The next meeting of the parish pastoral council will be held on Thursday, December 8 at 7:30 pm in the church hall.
FIRST RECONCILIATION CELEBRATION: The celebration for those children celebrating reconciliation for the first time will be on Saturday, December 10 at 10 am.
THE COMPASSIONATE FRIENDS (TCF) 13th ANNUAL MEMORIAL CANDLELIGHT SERVICE: Bereaved parents, grandparents, families and friends are invited to gather in honour of sons and daughters loved, missed and remembered this Christmas and always. To be held on Sunday, December 11 promptly at 7 pm in the Catholic Church Hall. Refreshments and candles provided. Please bring a framed photo of your child for the memory table and if you wish, an ornament for our Christmas tree, in memory of him or her for the evening. Pictures, ornaments and candles may all be taken home. “That their light may always shine.”
ST. ANTHONY’S SCHOOL MASS: The next school mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 5 at 9 am. Please join with staff and students.
EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS: Please note the sign up sheets in the church foyer for the Christmas masses. Please sign up where you will be available to serve.
ADVENT RECONCILIATION SERVICE: The parish’s advent reconciliation service will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 7. Visiting priests from Terrace and Prince Rupert will be available to hear confessions from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Please see next week’s bulletin for an examination of conscience.
CHILDREN’S MASS: The next children’s mass in the parish will be celebrated on Sunday, December 4 at 11:15 am. If you child would like to participate, please contact the parish office.
FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING: Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the celebrations of the Feast of Christ the King, including the hour of adoration, the luncheon, the ministries at each of our Eucharistic celebrations, and evening prayer to celebrate the first mass in the new church. Thank you for sharing your gifts and talents in making our celebrations very special. Total donations received at the luncheon came to approximately $950 (not deducting expenses).
KITIMAT RIGHT TO LIFE EDUCATION ASSOCIATION: Have real Christmas trees for sale. These will be available at the Full Gospel Church parking lot on December 10 from 10:30-1:30. Prices are yet to be determined. All proceeds go towards Kitimat Right to Life. Hope to see you there!!
LECTORS AND EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS: Thank you to all the Lectors and Eucharistic ministers that attended the information session on Tuesday evening.
THE CATHOLIC WOMENS’ LEAGUE SUPPORTS ~ MATERCARE INTERNATIONAL WWW.MATERCARE.ORG: An international group of Catholic obstetricians, gynecologists, mid�wives, and allied professionals which has adopted a preferential option for mothers and babies, both born and unborn. MCI’s mission is to carry out the work of the Gospel of Life through new initiatives of service, training , research and advocacy which are designed to contribute to the reduction of the tragic rates of death and injury during pregnancy and childbirth. Matercare has a specific Vision and follows objectives and tasks worldwide to ensure that pregnant women, especially in third world countries, are afforded care based on the highest medical and ethical standards.
HELPERS NEEDED: “Many helping hands make light work.” Your hands are needed on Sunday, December 4th following the 11:15 am mass to transform the church for the community Christmas caroling evening. Tasks will include tree assembly, hanging wreaths and garlands and adding those special touches to make the church feel festive.
CHRIST THE KING PARISH YOUTH GROUP: Thanks everyone who supported the Purdy’s Christmas Fundraiser. Thanks to the support of the parish and school community, the parish will profit $834.
KITIMAT UNITED CHURCH COOKIE WALK & LUNCHEON 1180 KINGFISHER AVE: Saturday, December 10th from, 12 noon -2:00 pm. Come and enjoy a delicious lunch and let us do your baking for you. You’ll find lots of Christmas cookies (sold by the box), baking, jams, jellies, chocolates, sewing items, church calendars and more.
FIRST RECONCILIATION RETREAT: Parents of children who are preparing to celebrate their First Reconciliation are reminded of the next family retreat on Sunday, November 27 from 2 to 4:30 pm in the church hall.
ESSAY CONTEST FOR YOUTH: Kitimat Right to Life has recently received contest information from Signal Hill (a prominent pro-life group in BC). There are two categories for the contest: grade 11 and 12 and grades 9 and 10. Both groups have their own two topics to choose from and monies to win! Please look for copies of the forms on the youth bulletin board. Due date for the contest is December 15.
WANT TO INCREASE YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION? The last faith sharing session will be offered on Tuesday, November 29 from 7:30 to 9:00 pm in the church hall. This session is open to anyone in the parish, especially those with children preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS NEWS
The Knights will be serving up their delicious pancake breakfast following the 9 and 11:15 am masses next Sunday, December 4. As always, please join them for an awesome breakfast and a great way to start the day.
