Kitimat Christmas Hamper Appeal - November, 2011
Christmas will soon be upon us and the Kitimat Christmas Hamper Appeal is in the process of gearing up for our annual campaign. In the past, your church community has been most generous in supporting this appeal. In 2010, this community donated $36,825.47 allowing us to fill over 300 hampers. Wit the help of many church volunteers we were able to continue assisting the less fortunate on a twice-weekly basis throughout 2011.
This year hampers will be delivered on Saturday, December 17th. We would appreciate having all food/gift donations by Monday, December 12, in order to have them sorted and wrapped for packing. We are requesting that gifts be left unwrapped as our Toy/Gift Committee will handle this job and enable us to see what gifts we have for what age groups. We would especially appreciate receiving gifts for adults and teens—gift certificates from the various merchants in town are ideal. Clothing, other than toques, mitts and scarves, is difficult for us to give as gifts as we do not know recipients; sizes or tastes. Donations of non-perishable food and gifts may be dropped off at the Thomas Cook Wings Travel Christmas Tree during their regular office hours, at Dairy Queen or dropped of at the Catholic Church Hall December 13 to 14 between 9 am and Noon. As we follow the BC Food Safe regulations, we are not allowed to accept home canned food times (vegetables, fish, etc.) Pickup can be arranged by calling 632-6611 and leaving a message. Cash donations can be mailed to Box 20 or dropped off at Envision Credit Union. Tax receipts are issued for donations of $10 or more.
Thank you to the members of your church for their continued caring support—we could not manage without you.
Sincerely,
Marjorie Phelps & Peal Lennox, Co-Chairs
Christmas Hamper Appeal
