STEWARDSHIP AT CHRISTMAS
December is such a busy time of year, and a month that tempts us to lose sight of the profound spiritual importance of the Advent and Christmas seasons. The best way to stay focused on the coming of Jesus Christ is to be good stewards of his presence in our daily lives. Here are simple ways to exercise good stewardship of this sacred time of year.
- Give God a very special gift this year: Let this gift be something personal that no one else needs to know about, and let it be a sacrifice. Perhaps your gift will be to commit to spending more time with God daily. Per-haps there is a habit you know you should give up. Why wait for a New Year’s resolution? Start now.
- Set aside a special time to read the Christmas story in the Gospel of Saint Luke 1:5-56 through 2:1-20: Consider reading this ac-count with your family and discussing it together.
- Plan a project to help someone this Christmas: involve your whole family and see how happy you can make someone this Christmas. Make sure your children take part in shopping for a family who needs extra help and make them aware of the needs in your community.
- Take a group Christmas caroling to a nursing home or a children’s hospital: Get people together. Make it festive. Bring the gifts of your joyful smiles and voices to those who may need these gifts.
- Give a surprise gift of service to each member of your family: The idea of giving an unexpected gift of service to members of your family reveals your own love and concern for them. Make it personal and meaningful.

DIOCESAN APPEAL 2011
THE NUMBERS KEEP CLIMBING
With this week’s totals now in, we have 11 parishes over goal, and three are very close. Thank you to all who have so generously responded to the Annual Appeal. To those who are still considering a pledge, know that the appeal year does not end until Au-gust 31, 2012, so there is still plenty of time. Perhaps you wish to wait until you get your income tax return—that works well for us too! Whenever you are able to make a pledge between now and the end of August, it counts toward this year’s goal.
| Parish Goal | $52,118 |
| Amount to Date | $37,118 |
| Amount to Goal | $15,000 |
| # of Pledges | 145 |
As we prepare for the celebration of Christmas, we hear the call from Isaiah and John the Baptist to prepare the way, and from Mary’s example we are challenged to make Christ more present in the world. We seek to accomplish that through the ministries supported by the Appeal, and through your participation in the Appeal, you also participate in those ministries. Through you participation in various programs funded by the Appeal, you are better equipped to continue your mission as a disciple of Jesus. The Appeal has as it’s fundamental mission the continuation of the mission of Jesus in the world through the official ministry of the church as well as through our individual efforts. TO ALL WE WISH A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND MANY BLESSINGS IN THE COMING YEAR.
